A high school principal said COVID-19 didn't majorly affect his school because it uses Acellus.
Mount Olive Innovation & Technology High School Principal Kevin Morris said it was like the coronavirus didn't even happen.
"Actually, for us, it has been like it never happened," Morris said in an interview with North SGV News. "I mean, we know it happened, but it's a good transition for us because we were already using Acellus. We were able to ... transfer the other classes over into Acellus because we do kind of like a blended model with direct instruction and online learning."
Morris said they transferred everything over onto Acellus because the students were already familiar with the system.
Morris said teachers would use Acellus along with other programs to write problems for students to see.
"So it's kind of been a combination of how we've used that in the past, that we've done...whole group instruction because, of course, everybody has a device in our district," Morris said. "We are a one-to-one district, so everybody has a device."
Morris said all of Acellus is important.
"We're at an alternative school, so we're credit recovery and some original credit classes," Morris said.
Morris said Acellus worked because it provides flexibility for staff and students. He said the previous platform didn't have videos, and there was no feedback ability.
Morris said the previous program would have students read and then click answers, and if they missed it, it would tell them to go back and read again, but it wouldn't help them with the problems. He said students figured out if they clicked on it enough times, it would provide the correct answer.
Morris said Acellus meets all of the school's needs.
"So, it kind of covers all the basics," Morris said.
Morris said Acellus is very user friendly.
