On Wednesday, September 28, the City of Duarte will host a Tree Dedication Ceremony in memory of former Mayor and City Councilmember Bryan Urias.
Councilmember Urias passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. To honor the Councilmember’s impact on Duarte, the tree will be planted at Beardslee Park, which is located in District 6, the district Councilmember Urias represented.
Community members and residents are invited to attend the Tree Dedication Ceremony on September 28 at Beardslee Park (2000 Buena Vista Street) starting at 10 AM.
Urias was a lifelong resident of the San Gabriel Valley, graduating from West Covina High School in 1999. Before being elected to City Council, Urias represented Duarte and surrounding communities for eight years as an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District. Urias was elected to the City Council to represent District 6 in November 2018. His City Council peers selected him to serve as Mayor in December 2020.
