12 Cited at City of Irwindale DUI Checkpoint

On Saturday, September 17th, twelve (12) citations were issued at a DUI checkpoint conducted by the Irwindale Police Department.

 The DUI checkpoint was held on Irwindale Avenue at Gateway Business Center from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

 Six (6) drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, driving with a suspended/revoked license or other licensing violations.  Six (6) additional citations were issued for vehicle code violations. A total of 749 vehicles were contacted, with one (1) vehicle being impounded.

 DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

 Additional DUI checkpoint will be held in the city of Irwindale in the future and will be announced in advance via Media Release and on our social media sites.

 Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
