City of Duarte Enhances City Hall Live Stream Capabilities

The City of Duarte has reinstated live streaming services of City Council meetings after months of significant upgrades to the City’s streaming equipment. The upgraded equipment allows residents to view live broadcasts of City meetings from the comfort of their homes.

“Providing our residents with the ability to stream public meetings is incredibly important in maintaining transparency with our residents and ensuring they stay up-to-date with important City news,” stated Duarte City Manager Daniel Jordan.

The City contracts with Maxtreme Inc., for IT solutions and also specializing in technological recommendations for local agencies. Maxtreme’s extensive research of the City’s streaming services led to technology and equipment recommendations for the new system. The City contracted with Avidex, a technology company specializing in audiovisual solutions for their clients; the company was also the original architect of the previous system. Following their review of the City’s equipment based on recommendations from Maxtreme Inc., Avidex installed the cutting-edge streaming equipment for the City that is now being used to greatly enhance the council chamber video streaming.

The upgraded equipment includes four cameras that allow maximum visibility of council chamber proceedings, an advanced production switcher with camera and computer feeds that output directly to the new livecaster on the City’s website, and a new production recorder that produces high-quality recordings of meetings. Avidex began their installation of the new system in February 2022 but, due to supply chain delays, many necessary parts did not arrive until August 2022. After months of installations, City Hall’s brand new streaming system is fully functional and now provides residents with remote access to City meetings in real-time for those unable to attend in person.

City Council meetings are available virtually via the City’s streaming services and in person at the City Council Chambers (1600 Huntington Drive) every second and fourth Tuesday at 7 PM. Meeting agendas, recorded meetings, and live streams can be found on the City’s website.
