Eagles Fly Past Owls | Citrus College
Citrus College couldn't control LA Mission, dropping a 15-3 run-rule loss to the Eagles.
The Owls fall to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in Western State Conference-South action. The Eagles improve to 9-5 on the year and 2-2 in conference with the win.
Citrus scored first with a run in its first chance at the plate as Samantha Meyndert knocked an RBI single before LA Mission could grab the third out.
The Eagles took control of the game in their next chance at the plate, however, scoring twice in the second, before adding five runs in the third, four in the fourth and four in the fifth to threaten the mercy rule.
Down 15-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Citrus had a tall task in front of it, needing seven runs to keep the game going. The Owls scored twice off a Marissa Ramirez RBI single and a Patty Rodriguez RBI walk, but it wasn't enough to extend the game.
The Owls have a quick turnaround and host Allan Hancock College on Friday for a doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
